Parenting App & Tickets to The Young Messiah

Written by, Bernadyn Nettles

Easter is almost here and whether you celebrate this holiday, I'd love to share this new movie that was just released March 11th called, The Young Messiah.  It's not just a story about Jesus, but a fresh take on a traditional story that teaches us family can support you and can protect you no matter what struggle you’re going through.  It reminds me of my family and how we demonstrate the importance of role models and why it's important to always support and protect one another.  See the film details below, watch the trailer, and check out the “Parenting” Featurette and Blog App.  Then, enter the giveaway to win tickets to see the movie in theaters!

Thank you to Ribbow Media Group for sponsoring today's discussion.  All opinions are my own.

About The Young Messiah

Inspired by Scripture and rooted in history, the story of The Young Messiah imagines a year in the boyhood of Jesus.  Remaining true to the character of Jesus revealed in the Bible, The Young Messiah is an inspirational story about the childhood of the Savior for the whole family.
The Young Messiah is not just a story about Jesus. It’s the story about Jesus and his family. Heading into this film the producers knew this was a fresh take on Jesus and the Holy family. The filmmakers quickly realized Mary and Joseph faced many of the same problems as parents today.
As parents we are always faced with difficult decisions on what's best for our children.  One of the difficult things I've become faced with recently as a parent is how much independence to give my kids, particularly my eldest who is at the age where he feels he can do more on his own.  I constantly have to make the decision whether an activity he would like to do is okay for him with limited supervision (like playing outside when all his friends are out there), or if I still need to supervise him directly.
I know that doing every little thing for him will only hinder him from learning, but that he is still too young to do everything completely on his own, so I'm constantly trying to find the right balance.
This is when the importance of role models come into play and how to teach your children to make good decisions.  We try to demonstrate making right decisions over just doing something wrong, even if it may be the easy way out.  For instance, my son sometimes tries to get out of going to school just because he would rather stay home. We show them that hard work and education are top priority; we make an effort to talk highly of school and we rarely miss going to work.

The Young Messiah Movie Trailer

When the mystery of Jesus’ divinity begins to unfold in His early years, He turns to His parents for answers. But Mary and Joseph, in an effort to protect their child, are afraid to reveal all they know. How do you explain the ways of the world to its Creator? How do you teach the Teacher? How do you help the Savior who came to save you?
Follow the young Messiah as He and His family take the extraordinary journey from Egypt to Nazareth and on to Jerusalem – where His true identity and profound destiny are revealed.
