Easy Summer Wreath Craft
One of the things I love about wreaths is that it is a quick decoration fix for a plain door or wall. Another thing I like about wreaths is that they can be a fast, creative project with young kids. It has been a busy summer around here with us in the process of moving and spending more time with my kids because of summer break. We have not had much time for actual craft projects since we have been hanging out outdoors. We worked on this wreath, however, because my kids saw these birds and butterfly decorations at the Dollar Tree and were excited to use them. It was fast to make and we used some burlap ribbon we already had at home. It turned out to be a simple but colorful summer wreath to hang in our home and the kids were proud to help while getting their craft on!
Quick, Easy DIY Wreath
We had fun making this wreath together while not spending much (yay for Mommy points)! It is not completely finished because I want to add a different ribbon to hold it up which I may get around to doing in the next couple weeks after we settle into our new place.
What You Need:
- 1 Styrofoam wreath ring
- Burlap ribbon
- 1 pack of Floral Garden Butterfly Embellishments
- Floral Garden Decorative Birds
- Ribbon to hang wreath
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Start with wrapping the burlap ribbon around the entire wreath. You can hot glue the edge of the ribbon onto the wreath first then glue the last edge (tucking it into the back of the wreath so it won't be seen).
- Decide where you want all the embellishments to go on the wreath.
- Glue on the embellishments.
- Add the top ribbon to hang the wreath.
All of the embellishments on the wreath along with the foam wreath frame we used came from Dollar Tree. The only embellishments not from Dollar Tree are the buttons and the "Charming" embellishment beneath the bird. These were in a pack for a dollar at Michael's Craft Store. They are made from wood but very light weight. We already had these from a previous projects so we decided to use them on the wreath.
It was hanging on our wall in the dining room but is now packed up. I will have to see where it will be a nice fit in our new place.
My little girl fell in love with these birds and said that they were, "Too cute!" so she really enjoyed adding them onto the wreath. She had to add a mama bird, of course, "for the cute little baby birds" she insisted. I do agree, that bigger mama bird was a sweet addition.
Aside from changing that white ribbon, I may add a banner like I did with my Burlap Lace Mother's Day Wreath.
What do you think? Do you have a wreath project you love? I'd love to hear about it or show me with a link in today's linky party below!
