Happier Easter Contest
Two Dollar Tree boxes arrived at my door recently and once again, my kids and I were thrilled to open them. For this promotion, Dollar Tree is holding a contest called the Happier Easter Contest in which one blogger will win a $500 Visa gift card. That's where you come in! I need your help in voting on my creations I made using the items given to me. You can vote at ILeaveHappy.com starting on March 16, 2015 until April 6, 2015. In addition, 10 voters will win a $50 Dollar Tree gift card.
Let's see what's in the boxes...
Spring/Easter Party Table Setting
There were so many fun items to work with that I decided to create an Easter/Spring table setting specifically for a party. Every party needs balloons and Dollar Tree provided 2 bags of them. We did not use all of the balloons and we unfortunately popped some along the way but we did manage to hang these balloons up on the wall for a little more color!
There was a large plastic blue basket, a purple plastic bucket/vase and a ceramic garden pot included. I filled the large basket as a child's gift basket that would make a sweet Easter present.
I filled it with tissue paper and paper Easter grass, then, I added the stuffed white bunny inside a large plastic egg.
I threw in some plastic Easter eggs that I filled with jelly beans provided in the box along with three bouncing balls, a wind-up chick and finished it off by placing some of the Easter and Spring decorations around it.
Letter boxes were also found in the box and so we used some of them to spell out "Party" and "Spring" to represent our Easter/Spring party decor.
There was a white sparkly mesh that I thought would make a nice garland to go around the table. I added in some of the pink flowers and purple butterflies that came in the boxes. They make great additions for crafts or decorations.
The boxes came with tons of pastel colored tissue paper so I cut some into long strips to hang under the balloons for a more Easter color combination.
Easter Candy Bouquet
Easter is another holiday where candy adds to the fun! There were two packs of Blow Pops included in the boxes so I used the garden pot to hold them together. I decorated the pot with some jelly beans just to add a little more Easter theme to it. Then, I stuck in some fake Easter egg sticks.
Since there were so many balloons and tissue paper, I figured I could use some of them to make a homemade Easter pinata. I know it seems a little cruel to smash a pinata with a sweet bunny's face but I wasn't sure what else to do with it! The bunny face took up most of the space on the front of the pinata which helps if your pinata doesn't look the prettiest. ;)
This is the back side and as you can see (don't look too closely!), it's far from perfect! I figured the kids are going to destroy it anyway!
This is the side view of the pinata. I attached part of the light blue burlap ribbon that was also included in the box for a way to hang the pinata.
I used the smaller purple bucket for a centerpiece decoration or it can be a gift basket, as well. The rabbit face is actually a pair of sunglasses perfect for a child to wear on Easter.
What Came First...the Chicken or the Egg?
In this case, the cute little chick is inside the large egg! I thought this would make a cute piece of Easter decor and added in some Easter eggs with jelly beans inside.
My daughter calls the chick, "The Cheeper."
Now, all that's left to do is to party!
Have a hoppy spring!
