DIY Easter Egg Spring Wreath

Written by, Bernadyn Nettles

Easy to Make Spring Wreath

How are you decorating your house for Spring or Easter?  Spring is one of my favorite seasons so I like to bring the colorful Spring colors into the home with wreaths and other home décor.  I think the Easter and Spring colors brighten up the room and make it feel more cheerful.  We had several Easter eggs from all the years of egg hunts so I thought using a few of them for this DIY wreath project would be a good way to upcycle those plastic eggs.  This is an easy craft to make that your kids can help with, too.

Upcycled Easter Egg Wreath

I think year round wreaths are such great ideas to have to add a little décor and festivity to your home.  I love how they look on doors, on the wall and anywhere where they can make something plain look more alive.

How to Make Easter Egg Spring Wreath

This wreath did not take long to make so that's always a bonus!

Wreath frame, Dollar Tree Wreath
I actually cut this round wreath frame in half when I was using it for a snowman wreath during the holidays.

What You Need:

  • Foam wreath frame (can be found at the dollar store)
  • Plastic Easter eggs (I needed 14 eggs for this wreath)
  • Paper Easter grass
  • Butterfly or other embellishments
  • Burlap or ribbon to hang wreath
  • Hot glue
  • Hot glue gun

I started with measuring how long I wanted the ribbon to hang and cut it, then, hot glued it to the top of the wreath.  I didn't cover the wreath frame with any burlap or ribbon because I knew I was going to use the Easter paper grass to cover what can be seen of the green frame.  You can cover it first if you prefer by wrapping ribbon, burlap or cloth around the entire wreath before placing the eggs.

Choose what color Easter eggs you want around the wreath and begin gluing them down all around the wreath.

Make sure all plastic Easter eggs are glued down securely before placing the paper grass around them.

I stuck the purple butterfly in before gluing down the paper Easter grass. You can use whatever spring or Easter décor you have to add as embellishment to your wreath.  My daughter loves butterflies so this is what she wanted and this was also from the dollar store.  It came in a pack of two.

Glue the paper Easter grass all around to cover any visible parts of the wreath frame.  Pull out or cut down some of the paper that is hanging too low.

Add a bow from the same ribbon, if you prefer, to the top.

Colored Burlap Ribbon, Crafts

I wanted to use the extra burlap to make a small banner going across the wreath.  My son helped with this part and liked the idea of the word, "Spring" written out in the middle.

I simply glued the ends of the banner on top of the plastic eggs at the ends.  You can place the banner on a thinner ribbon, too.

I love how this wreath turned out and am glad we can use some of the eggs as decoration since we have so many!  It's a great way to reuse and recycle along with reusing the frame of the wreath.  I'll probably keep this one together and hang it up again next year.
