Halloween Fun at Jacksonville Zoo Spooktacular {Wordless Wednesday}

Written by, Bernadyn Nettles

Last week, we took the children to the annual Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens' Spooktacular event for Halloween.  I used to volunteer every year during high school, scooping out the insides of the pumpkins.  It was messy work!  I'm happy now that I can take my kids to enjoy this event as guests.  This is the second year our kids have gone, see our first year here when it was just as fun.  We want to make this one of our Halloween traditions to visit every year before Halloween.

There were trick or treat stations so the kids had plenty of candy by the end of the event.  There were also haunted zones to give you a good scare.  For adults, I don't think it was too scary.  You go through the scare zones pretty quickly but for smaller kids, it could be terrifying since there were victims screaming in cages and zombies telling you they want to eat your brains.  The scare zones were not recommended for children under ten.

The Jacksonville Zoo is one of our favorite places to visit all throughout the year in Jacksonville.  The annual pass is worth it if you have small kids, they never seem to tire of visiting.  During the holidays, they also have a Christmas event that is open for several weeks called, ZOOlights.

How was your Halloween?  I'd love to hear all about it!

Happy Wednesday!
