Feed Mom This Mother's Day

"And remember that behind every successful a basket of laundry."

Remember, don't let Mom do any laundry (or any chores) this weekend especially on Mother's Day! Sunday is Mother's Day but many people started celebrating yesterday, Friday.  Why not celebrate the entire weekend?  Mom is worth it, right?  She fed you when you were younger and maybe she still feeds you now??  A great way to thank Mom is to feed her, too!

Places to Feed Mom Around Jacksonville, FL

Here are some restaurants that I recommend:
  • Espeto Brazilian Steakhouse located in Avondale.  They bring skewers of tasty cooked meat to your table continuously throughout your meal.  Just let them know when you're ready for more using a card they provide for you.  There's also a salad bar (it has more than just salads) that you can visit however many times as you want.  It's worth a try if she's never been.  I recommend making reservations.
  • Corner Bistro and Wine Bar located on Southside Blvd.  They have delicious food and a nice atmosphere, one of my fave places for date night.  There's half price by the wine on Sundays and Mondays.  They have good martinis, too.
  • River City Brewing Company: It still surprises me whenever I hear residents of Jacksonville say they've never been here.  I guess it's because I've been going since high school.  It was a popular place to eat before events like prom.  I love the nautical theme of the place and popular dishes are seafood but they have other great items. The food is great and the restaurant has a great location for the downtown skyline and St. John's River.  There's a high deck near the outside bar where you can take in the gorgeous view so if anything, at least check this place out at night when downtown is all lit up.  (It's right by Friendship Fountain so you'll be able to see the light show going on there, too).  They offer Sunday Brunch buffets for $24.95.  You'll get the most value out of your money with this since the price of one entree dining there any other day will cost you the same.
  • Biscottis is also located in Avondale.  This is a quaint, cozy restaurant.  They also offer brunch Saturdays and Sundays 8-3 PM.  We usually go there for the yummy desserts.  They scream at you to try them upon entering the door so don't resist, have a bite!
  • Metro Diner located in Mandarin, San Marco and Jacksonville Beach.  They are only open for breakfast/brunch (6:30-2:30 PM) but it's worth going and waiting in the line outside.  Chicken and waffles is their popular item so try it if it's your first time there.
  • TacoLu located in Jacksonville Beach.  If Mom is a fan of tacos then visit this place, it's delicious and they offer a variety of tacos and other great items, as well.  (They're also gluten-free friendly).
  • Bowl of Pho located in Southside.  If Mom likes Vietnamese or Asian cuisine or wants to give it a try, then this is the place to go.  Fresh food and nice prices.  I like going here on cold or rainy days or when I'm really hungry because I always leave with a content stomach.
  • French Pantry located in Southside.  You'll miss it because you're positive it's not going to be located in a warehouse building...wrong, you found it!  Follow the line of urgent people waiting to get inside.  This tiny eatery offers delicious sandwiches, subs and desserts.  They've got limited business hours and unfortunately won't be open Mother's Day (they only operate weekdays) but I thought it was still worth mentioning. Try it at least once because it may become one of your favorite places.

The rest is up to you, what are your plans for Mother's Day?  Any other dining suggestions?

Enjoy your weekend and Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there!!!
