My Son's First Heart Break {Mommy Cab Discussion}

Written by, Bernadyn Nettles

Avoiding a Broken Heart

A few weeks ago, my son had his first school dance that he attended.  I let my son down and completely forgot about the dance.  I was a no show and in a Mommy Cab Discussion on the way home that day, he let me know that I broke his heart.  When I realized what missing that dance meant to him, my heart broke, too.  He taught me a lesson about listening and as parents, there are times when we cannot always attend every event but this time, I had no actual excuse.  It was another lesson I learned as a parent.  I wrote these "Top 5 Parenting Lessons I Have Learned" last week for Healthy Moms Magazine and now, I'm adding the lesson that parents need to listen, not just hear their kids.  The list of things I'm learning on my parenting journey is definitely growing!

DIY Easter Egg Spring Wreath

Written by, Bernadyn Nettles

Easy to Make Spring Wreath

How are you decorating your house for Spring or Easter?  Spring is one of my favorite seasons so I like to bring the colorful Spring colors into the home with wreaths and other home d├ęcor.  I think the Easter and Spring colors brighten up the room and make it feel more cheerful.  We had several Easter eggs from all the years of egg hunts so I thought using a few of them for this DIY wreath project would be a good way to upcycle those plastic eggs.  This is an easy craft to make that your kids can help with, too.

Spring Rainbow Kids' Craft and Activities

Written by, Bernadyn Nettles

Fun Family-friendly Spring Crafts

Spring is a beautiful season, don't you think?  I love how the weather gets warmer and flowers begin to blossom again.  It's a great season if you have kids who like to play outside and explore.  Here in Florida, it does not really matter what the season is because it can be warm one day, cold the next, then rainy for ten minutes at a time!  Our bipolar weather requires us parents to have activities ready to do with kids when they are at home...at least, I 'try' to like this week when my son was home for spring break.  If your kids need ideas for indoors or outside, here are a variety of rainbow-themed activities perfect for celebrating the Spring season.  This was posted at Jacksonville Moms Blog so be sure to visit there for the full article and tutorials.

Spring Rainbow Cookies and Milk

Fun Spring Kids' Food

Spring is officially here!  My kids are super excited for the warmer weather and for all the beautiful flowers and plants to grow colorful and green again.  We have been on Spring Break this week and had lots of fun adventures enjoying the outdoors and visiting new places.  St. Patrick's Day was also this week so we have been doing a lot of rainbow-themed activities including making rainbow food like these rainbow sugar cookies and milk with rainbow sprinkles.  Making the rainbow cookies are easy and drinking the milk with a mustache straw and sprinkle-rimmed bottle is more fun than using a regular straw!
